UNION GAP, Wash. — Yakima Valley Tourism has opened a new visitor center and gift shop inside the main entrance of the Valley Mall in Union Gap.
“We had been considering ways to expand our visitor services when the mall approached us with this opportunity,” Yakima Valley Tourism CEO John Cooper said. “This satellite visitor center and gift shop will help us expand our public services while promoting locally branded products.”
People can pick up free visitor information like travel guides, maps and event calendars, but they can also get Yakima Valley-branded items like mugs, t-shirts, gift baskets, tote bags, hats and key chains.
“I think my biggest hope is it will help expand demand for some of our locally produced products that we’re able to offer,” Cooper said.
The free travel and visitor information is available during regular business hours at the mall. The gift shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday.
