YAKIMA, Wash. — Sadly, firefighters won’t be able to save every home from sustaining serious damage from fires, but they will always try their hardest to mitigate the fallout. Although an electrical fire on Saturday night severely damaged a home near one part of town, Yakima firefighters saved an apartment complex from dismay elsewhere days later.
Fast-acting firefighters from the City of Yakima rescued an apartment building from severe damages on Tuesday night, containing the blaze at the front entrance of one of the unit.
According to a social media notice from the City of Yakima Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a complex on the 200-block of N 10th Ave at 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8. They were able to spring into action as soon as they arrived with the flames confined to the apartment’s entrance.

A short while later, the fire was extinguished, preventing anyone from suffering injuries. They are still investigating to find the source of the fire, but officials estimated that only $2,000 worth of damages were accrued.
Just days earlier on Saturday, Nov. 5, a house on the 1600-block of S 15th Ave suffered between $150,000 and $175,000 worth of damage from an electrical fire.
Yakima firefighters were dispatched at 1:27 am that night for reports of the blaze at a home in their jurisdiction. The damages were considered severe to both the structure itself and the electrical systems involved, which caused such a high price point.
However, neither the occupant(s) nor firefighters suffered any injuries as a result of the blaze.
