Why Dilly Deli’s Porky Pig Is Worth A Return Visit

Posted on by admin

When it’s lunchtime I don’t “brown bag” it, I usually go out and get something to eat. I’ll usually grab it to go and bring it back to the office. In this process, I’ve managed to stumble across several great places to grab a sandwich, but it’s been a couple of years since I tried this place.

So, the other day I started thinking of Lunch, which I often do. (Even after lunch.) And I said to myself, “it’s been a while since I’ve visited Dilly Deli”. Dilly Deli is known for its sandwiches and salads. In fact, the last time I was there, I got a salad. Well, I made my decision and headed on down, walked in the door, walked up to the ordering counter, and proudly announced that I needed a sandwich.

The great thing is there’s lots of sandwiches to choose from and they all look pretty good, but one stood out to me. (Maybe it was the mood I was in.)

I ordered a Porky Pig.

Most of the sandwiches they offer, you can order on any number of different kinds of bread. My particular “go to” is whole wheat. I didn’t call in my order in advance, so I sat and waited while they made my sandwich. It didn’t take too long. When it was ready, I paid for it (11.75 for a whole sandwich) and happily went on my way.

When I got back to work, I busted the Porky Pig out and had a look. Honestly, it’s a pretty big sandwich and it has a nice list of ingredients. Genoa Salami, Ham, Bacon, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Mayo & Stoneground Mustard.

Was it good?

The first Bite told the story of the entire sandwich. The Mayo mixing in with the stone-ground mustard. The flavor of the Genoa salami lurks in the background. The crunch of bacon. (Excellent bacon by the way) Seriously, It’s an awesome sandwich.

The sandwich was so good I went back a week later and got another one just because I wanted to make sure that it was as good as I thought it was. (Ohh yeah, it was.)

Dilly Deli is easy to get to, the staff is polite and friendly, and the sandwiches are a good value.

Next time I drop in there I’m told I need to try out “The Meat Jagger”.

I’m told it’s spicy, I like spicy.
