Which WA Schools Won’t Allow Students Opt-Out for Pride Events?

Posted on by admin

It’s the state capitol, and according to information shared by AM 770 KTTH radio, students cannot opt-out of pride activites.

Olympia Schools have no opt-out option.

According to Jason Rantz of AM 770 KTTH, Olympia Schools are requiring students to take part in or attend various pride activities that happen before the end of the school year.

Rantz said the school district does not offer an opt-out, and allegedly stated to even asking about doing so was offensive.

According to Rantz, the District responded this way via a spokesperson:

“The Olympia School District has no opt out process for Pride-related lessons as they are aligned with the standards that are required to be taught within our schools. OSD is committed to gender-inclusive schools, and we will follow the guidance of our governing agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).”

This is the same District that came under fire not just locally or statewide, but from the nation and worldwide for going away with music classes because they were examples of “white supremacy” according to School Board Director Scott Clifthorne.

One of the District’s elementary schools also drew criticism for handing out what parents felt was an inappropriate sexual education curriculum to 4th and 5th graders.
