KENNEWICK – The Safeway store off US 395 in Kennewick is closing its doors and it is causing a lot of buzz on local social media channels.

Signs were posted on store windows “Sale on Everything” and “Total Inventory Blowout”. There were even people with large signs walking up and down the sidewalk Wednesday, letting drivers know about the massive inventory sale.

KAPP KVEW Local News has confirmed with the store director that the store is indeed closing. There were rumors, even confirmed by some store employees, that the location was moving to Albertson’s off of Clearwater Avenue, but that is not the case, according to the store director.

The store director confirmed the location off US 395 was closing and all employees will be absorbed through the other local locations.

The signs at the store caused a lot of talk on local social media sites, even some phone calls to the newsroom. One caller said employees were not sure what was happening. According to some photos of the signs, all of the inventory must be sold and right now, customers can get from 5% to 50% off items.

The store is set to officially close November 1.
