
WEST RICHLAND, Wash. — Concerned community members who intervened when they saw a woman being attacked played a pivotal role in the man’s arrest, as outlined by the West Richland Police Department via social media.
According to their Facebook post, officers responded to Crown Dr & W Van Giesen St in West Richland on Sept. 28, 2022 for reports of an assault in progress.
When they arrived, they made contact with a female victim. Through speaking with her and eyewitnesses, they learned that a male suspect physically attacked her and fled from the scene on foot shortly after. She was transported to a nearby hospital to be medically evaluated and treated for any wounds suffered in the assault.

Meanwhile, West Richland police officers began to scour the area to locate the male suspect. Eventually, they found him hiding nearby and made contact with him thanks to assistance from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Richland Police Department.
The male suspect, whose identity is being withheld by police at this time, was arrested without any further commotion.
Two concerned community members witnessed the assault unfolding and stopped to help her. West Richland Police offered the following comments on their efforts: “We would like to thank the two citizens who saw the assault and stopped to help the female. Because of your actions no further injuries were sustained by the female and the male was quickly taken into custody.”
