WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The suspect in an August 2022 homicide investigation out of Wenatchee was brought into custody near a Southeastern Washington park on Tuesday evening.
According to Cpt. Eric Knudson of the Walla Walla Police Department, the arrest was made around 5:00 p.m. PST on October 11. It was a joint effort between the Walla Walla Regional Drug Gang Task Force, Columbia River Drug Task Force, and US Marshals Service.
The suspect, since identified as 27-year-old Javier Valdez, was located on the 300-block of N 9th Ave near Washington Park. He is liked to a homicide investigation out of Wenatchee that launched on August 12, 2022.
No further details on his involvement or what information led to the arrest are being released as this investigation remains ongoing.
The Walla Walla Regional Drug Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort between the city’s police department and county sheriff’s office, along with the College Place Police Department and Washington State Department of Corrections. Their goal is to curb some of the most violent and damaging crimes in the region by way of specialized investigation and tactics.
