WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla Police Department is investigating after a girl reported a man tried to abduct her while she walked home from school Thursday.

Authorities said the 11-year-old was walking home after an after school activity at Prospect Point School.

At about 5:30 p.m., authorities said the girl reported she was in the area of Ransom Road and Cottonwood Road when she heard footsteps behind her.

Authorities said the girl reported a white man, between 60 and 70 years of age, grabbed her hair and tried to pull her back, but the girl said she was able to escape.

The girl reported she ran towards a home and the man tried to chase her, but when she knocked on the door, the man turned and ran towards a vehicle on Cottonwood Road.

Authorities said the man was described as having short brown hair with blond tips and sideburns. He had a black sweatshirt and dark denim jeans on.

Walla Walla investigators are asking people who live in the areas of Cottonwood Road between Prospect Avenue and Austin Street to check any surveillance videos they may have.

If anyone sees anything suspicious, they are asked to call dispatch at 509-527-1960 and reference case #2022-25423.

The Walla Walla School District is also warning parents and students of the possible abduction after police let them know what had happened.
