Walla Walla High School Honors Soccer Player Zaley Blocklinger

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Over the weekend, 14-year-old Zaley Blocklinger was killed in a car accident around 2:30 AM on Saturday.

When news of the situation broke, the Walla Walla High School announced they had activated its crisis response plan, for students to have a safe place on campus to grieve the loss or talk to a professional if needed.

Days later, the WaHi Girls Soccer team took to Twitter, and posted a video of a balloon release in Zaley’s honor.

Then, it was announced that Tuesday’s game would be dedicated to the 14 year old. People were encouraged to sport Zaley’s number, 25, and wear purple, her favorite color. They were also asked to bring items to donate to the Children’s Home Society, in her honor. The game started at 4 PM at WaHi, against Hanford High School; both varsity and JV had games.

The Walla Walla High School Athletics Booster Club said a memorial fund is being set up, KAPP KVEW will have the details as soon as they become available.
