WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The City of Walla Walla Fire Department plans to buy new life-saving equipment with a $35,000 grant from Gesa Credit Union.
The fire department is among 43 recipients of grant awards through Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grant Program this year.
The grant program provides funding to organizations that help local heroes, such as firefighters, law enforcement, veterans and teachers.
WWFD plans to us the money to purchase electric-hydraulic extrication equipment.
In a release, Fire Chief Eric Wood said the fire department was grateful for the grant award.
“These funds will allow our department to keep up with the latest technology in life-saving equipment,” Wood said. “We look forward to putting these tools into service so we can continue to provide the highest quality of service to the residents of the Walla Walla Valley.”
