CONNELL, Wash. – The southbound lanes of WA-17 were closed on Thursday night when a potato truck and a combine harvester collided near the intersection, drawing a response from law enforcement to rural Franklin County.
According to an announcement made by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office alerting community members to the closure, this accident took place near the intersection where WA-17, WA-260 and Hendricks Rd meet.
This is located less than four miles south of the entrance to the Scooteney Park and Campground, and between six and seven miles west of the main section of Connell.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured as a result of this collision or what the cause was.
Earlier in the day, WSP Trooper Jeremy Weber confirmed that WA-17 was closed for a three-vehicle collision including two cars and a semi-truck around 6:00 p.m. PST on Oct. 4.
That accident fully blocked WA-17 near milepost 38, which is located just south of Warden, WA in Grant County. Although that crash also impacted traffic for a brief while, the roadway was fully re-opened to traffic by 6:16 p.m. PST.
