PASCO, Wash. — Just as they were announcing new recruits to their indoor football team, the Tri-City Rush Owner Brandon Tate announced the team is closing operations immediately. Tate took to Facebook on Tuesday to make the announcement:
It comes with deep regret that I must inform all of RUSH nation that I have had to make the difficult decision that the Tri-City Rush Professional Indoor Football Team will be closing its operations immediately. We appreciate the tremendous support we have received over the last two years and the family and bonds we have created. We battled against competition and against some of the toughest times the country and businesses have seen winning back to back championships in our two years of existence. But financially we have not been able to reach our goals to continue and I can no longer support the team financially.
I gave everything I had and more to this team. It saddens me to the core that our journey ends here. I am glad I was able bring a championship team back to the Tri-Cities and help right the wrongs that our fans and family previously suffered.
All season ticket and tryout purchases for this season have been refunded. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this community.
On October 27th, Tate posted a team update on Facebook stating they were unable to use the HAPO Center Arena. Tate said this happened after the HAPO Center signed a two-year agreement with the Rush’s partner, Clubhouse Sports Academy.
Tate said they reached out to the Toyota Center to use as their home stadium, but they declined. The Rush continued to recruit and plan their third season, and even reached out to the Yakima Valley SunDome.
It’s unclear if the lack of a home stadium led to Tate’s decision to shutdown the team.
The Rush was a part of the American West Conference who’s inaugural season started in 2019. The Tri-City Rush were dubbed the 2021 American West Conference Champions.
KAPP KVEW has reached out to Tate, he hasn’t yet responded.
