Wildfires are rampant this summer, prompting the State of Washington to issue a statewide fire ban that will remain in effect until September 30th.

Firefighters Have an Unusual Request for Businesses During Washington Burn Ban

So the Benton County Fire District #1 is asking local businesses to help out with the fire ban. If you have a reader board outside of your business, they are asking that you advertise the burn ban.

Not everyone is on social media, and the fire department wants to get the word out about the statewide burn ban.

Benton County Fire District #1 says they would rather educate the community instead of arriving to put out a fire on their property or see them get reported to the Benton County Clean Air Authority for not knowing about the statewide fire ban.

The sign could be as easy as “Don’t Burn Stuff – Fire Ban In Effect”. If you are a business, can you help out?

Also, if you do burn, you could face up to $1000 civil penalties, state environmental penalties of $10,000 per day, and a cost for the entire fire department response.
