I’ll just say it: Taco Time is the best Mexican restaurant that anyone outside of the Pacific Northwest has never heard of.

What Are Your Favorite Menu Items At Taco Time?

As a kid growing up in Clarkston Washington, it was almost a status symbol to be seen at Taco Time. Our local Taco Time was near the high school and the cool kids got to hang out there.

They’d jump in their Toyota Corolla at lunchtime and head to Taco Time to grab a Big Juan drink, Mexi-Fries, and a crisp meat burrito.

I was totally unaware until years later that Taco Time wasn’t a nationwide chain. I’ve traveled the country in my radio career and soon discovered that Taco Time wasn’t on every corner.

A lot of folks are missing out on some delicious eats, let me tell you.

For me, the Casita Burrito is my jam.

Here are some facts that you might not know about Taco Time:

Taco Time has been around since 1960 when it first opened its doors in Eugene, Oregon. The first franchise opened in 1962 in White Center Washington and Taco Time quickly expanded to over 300 locations, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region.

What is really fascinating, is that Taco Time Northwest broke off from the parent company in 1979 for Western Washington and remains independent.

Taco Time restaurants located in eastern Washington (other than those in Wenatchee & East Wenatchee) and Oregon remained with the original corporation. Taco Time Northwest currently has 79 restaurants, mainly in the Seattle area.

Since then, it has become a favorite among Mexican food lovers all throughout the Pacific Northwest.

I’m a huge fan of their food and I’m also surprised that most people outside of the Pacific Northwest haven’t heard about Taco Time.
