There are heartbreaking numbers coming out of Spokane, with officials estimating that wildfires have destroyed between 700 and 1,100 structures, and it is not over yet.

Crews are still working through neighborhoods to assess the damage, but this latest estimate shows just how catastrophic these fires have been. The scary part is the nightmare is not over.
Spokane Fire Damage Assessment Is Still Ongoing
One of the challenges after a wildfire is just getting back into burned neighborhoods safely.
Emergency crews have to wait until areas are secure before they can inspect every affected property. Because of that difficulty, officials are providing a range instead of an exact number. Crews are still surveying the damage for homes, businesses, garages, and other buildings, so the total continues to change.
As of a recent update, officials estimate over 700 structures have been lost, with another 400 to still be evaluated. That would make this one of the most destructive wildfire disasters in Washington State history.
Neighborhoods of Homes Burnt to Dust in Just Hours
Tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate as firefighters are still battling multiple fires that have been fueled by hot temperatures, dry vegetation, and powerful winds.
The good news is officials have not reported any confirmed wildfire-related fatalities. However, search efforts and damage assessments are still in flux, with emergency crews just starting to work through the affected areas.
