Speeding Driver Crashes, Dies in Columbia Park

Some details have still not been released by Kennewick Police.

   Speeding Driver Later Dies in Crash

Around 9:40 PM Friday night, Kennewick Police were pursuing a vehicle that was driving recklessly, according to Officers, near Edison and Paul Parish Drive (formerly Columbia Park Trail, which runs through Columbia Park).

The Officer broke off the pursuit after the driver refused to pull over, and continued speeding eastbound on Parish into Columbia Park.  The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

    A Short Time Later, Fatal Crash Happens

Witnesses called 9-1-1 to report a fast-moving vehicle had crashed near the Veteran’s Memorial, and the car was on fire.

Officers quickly responded, and found the male driver, who was the only occupant, was deceased at the scene.  No other details released, the KPD Traffic Safety Division continues to investigate.
