RICHLAND, Wash. — Police have released security camera stills of the vehicle which they believe to have struck a 14-year-old student of Chief Joseph Middle School and fled from the scene in late October.
According to a social media alert from the Richland Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of George Washington Way and McMurray St at about 4:40 p.m. on October 26 for reports of a collision.

Moments earlier, a 14-year-old boy rode his bicycle westbound on George Washington Way at the crosswalk. The silver/grey SUV pictured above was heading westbound on McMurray St when it turned onto George Washington Way and struck the bicycle on its back tire.
Luckily, the teenage boy was not hurt in the crash, but his tire was destroyed and his bike was partially damaged. Meanwhile, the driver failed to stop and sped off to avoid being confronted by police.

“A photo of the vehicle was obtained from traffic cameras and is attached below,” Richland police stated online. “RPD is asking for assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver.”
