Washington Raccoon Becomes a Local Celebrity, Even NASA Is In On the Joke
If you don’t know, Jimothy is a raccoon who lives in Ballard and has gone viral.

NASA posted this message on the NASA Earth Facebook page:
This astronaut photograph, taken from the International Space Station, shows Seattle, Washington. The iconic raccoon, nicknamed Jimothy, has been spotted in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood (top middle in this image).
So look at the photo, and the shape of Jimothy can be seen in Green Lake.
I’ll be surprised if Seattle residents don’t start a petition to get Green Lake named to “Jimothy Lake”.
How much more viral can Jimothy get? He’s a big deal now, so hopefully, most people will let him go about his life.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife has sent reminders not to engage Jimothy if you do see him in Ballard.
It’s cool to see NASA getting in on the fun as well.
