Saddle Rock Pub Inside Wenatchee’s Grand Central Building

Posted on by admin

It’s been at least a couple of years since the last time I visited Saddle Rock Pub and Brewery. I decided it was time for a revisit to see what they have to offer. Anyone who’s ever been to Saddle Rock Pub and Brewery know that they have excellent pizzas, and they do sell by the slice. But pizza was not on the agenda. For me, I wanted, (you guessed it), a sandwich.

According to Saddlerockbrewery.com,
‘Saddle Rock Pub & Brewery opened in October 2011 and is located inside the Grand Central Building in downtown Wenatchee, next to the Performing Arts Center. Located at 25 N. Wenatchee Ave. Suite 107. Enter from 1st Ave, or come down stairs through building if from Wenatchee Ave. There is convenient parking in the lot below Arlberg sports (Columbia Ave and 1st).’

I arrived there right at 11:00 which is when they open, (Monday through Thursday, 11:00 to 9:00, Friday and Saturday, 11 to 10, and Sunday, noon to 9)

What is on the menu?

When you look at the menu, you see a good variety of appetizers, You have lots of choices. The one that caught my eye was the loaded tater tots. They have a good selection of salads. (not for me though) 12 different pizzas to choose from, perfect for a brew pub, but I was on a mission; I needed a sandwich.

Six sandwiches are on the menu ranging in price from $14 to $16. If that seems a little pricey, calm down. They also come with a side. I opted for a cup of soup (Potato bacon) I decided I would try something different, (at least for me), and went with the grilled italian. Just think of it as a grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, some roasted bell peppers, with a balsamic vinaigrette dipping sauce.

I didn’t have to wait long before they delivered my lunch to the table. The first thing I did was dive into the soup. The potato bacon soup was much like chowder, very thick, which I liked.

Then it was time for the sandwich.

The grilled Italian was pretty much what I expected, except I found that the pepperoni was quite mild. I got through the first half of the sandwich before I decided to try the balsamic vinaigrette Dipping sauce. When I did, I was very pleasantly surprised. It actually added a note of sweetness to the sandwich that wasn’t there before. When I asked about it, they told me that the balsamic vinaigrette is made with balsamic vinegar and pureed apples for that extra sweetness. I recommend you try your sandwich both ways.

The combination of the mozzarella cheese, the Canadian bacon, and the pepperoni work well together and unless you’re my daughter, the red bell peppers add some color and are complementary.

Truth be told, I probably should have gone with the half sandwich and soup, but I’m not unhappy with my choice.

Next time I’ll have to try a calzone.

When you look at the menu, you’ll see all the pizza choices, and there’s also a calzone option for each of those pizza choices.

I may have to try the BBQ chicken calzone.
