RICHLAND, Wash. — Wielding a machete and a pellet gun that looks deceivingly like a legitimate firearm, a male suspect allegedly threatened subjects at the Richland Skatepark on Tuesday night.
According to a social media notice posted by the Richland Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Richland Skatepark located at 1185 Carondelet Dr for a weapons complaint around 10:25 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2022.
They said that the reporting individual claimed to have been threatened with a machete and handgun while in the public space. Officers then learned that the suspect accused of making these threats allegedly met up with two other male subjects in the area before leaving the Skatepark.

While responding to the area, Richland police officers observed subjects who were similar to the descriptions offered by the individual who was threatened. They made contact with these three subjects and soon after, the victim identified the person who threatened him with these weapons.
Officers found that these individuals were in possession of both the machete and a firearm. However, upon closer inspection, they learned that it was merely a pellet gun — not a lethal firearm.
One of the suspects was arrested at the scene for a weapons violation. However, Richland police officers did not identify the responsible individual or state what specific charges they may face for the crime.
