Power companies reporting outages; more than 2,100 without power across Benton County

Power companies reported a large number of households reporting power outages were in the Prosser area.

BENTON COUNTY, Wash – Power companies across the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas reported several power outages Friday night.

This as a powerful wind storm hit the area.

Benton PUD reported more than 2,100 customers without power by 11 p.m. Friday.

Those living on the west side of Prosser were heavily impacted by the storm. More than 1,200 people there reported they didn’t have power around 10:30.

At this time, Benton PUD said it does not know when all power will be restored. Customers can stay updated by following the outage map viewer on Benton PUD’s website.

In Franklin County, some customers of Franklin PUD reported outages around 8 p.m. Friday.

OUTAGE UPDATE as of 10:45 p.m.: Crews are continuing to work outages and are now responding to a new outage in Prosser. There are 1295 customers are impacted in the West end of town.

High wind storms can cause trees to topple onto power lines. If you see downed power lines, do not approach the area. Stay away. Call 911 immediately.
