[PHOTO] This Semi vs Tiny Car Crash Shut Down SR-97 Near Brewster

Posted on by admin

One driver is lucky to be alive after a serious-injury crash between a car and a semi truck that completely blocked SR-97 near Brewster yesterday.

According to the Washington State Patrol’s District 6 PIO, the crash happened near the Brewster Airport at milepost 263.5 in Okanogan County around 3 pm yesterday.

The roadway was fully blocked, causing Washington State Department of Transportation crews to open a detour around the crash.

Shocking Photo from SR-97 Crash Between a Small Car and Semi

WSP initially reported the incident as a serious injury collision before confirming that a car and a semi truck were involved.

The photo released by WSP gives a pretty good indication of just how violent the impact was.

The back wheels of the semi-trailer are visible in the picture, but only parts of the smaller vehicle are visible. What appears to be part of the car is wedged underneath the trailer near the axle, which is missing its tire. You can see multiple “parts” tangled in the truck’s rear axle.

A lone tire from the car is sitting on the pavement nearby, while another large piece of the vehicle appears to be tangled around the trailer’s wheel area. I can’t tell if it is a door, side panel, or something else.

There Were Lengthy Delays on SR-97

It is one of those crash scenes where you know everyone is lucky to be alive.

With the entire roadway blocked, drivers traveling through the area dealt with delays.

There is no word yet on what caused the collision or the extent of the injuries. Those details will likely become clearer as the Washington State Patrol investigation continues.
