KENNEWICK, Wash. — A 14-year-old was found shot in a front yard in Kennewick late Friday night (Sept. 23) in what police believe to be a random act.

Kennewick Police Department received reports of gunshots in the 800 block of S. Garfield Street just before midnight Friday. Officers located one teen with an apparent gunshot wound.

Another teen, a 15-year-old, was contacted and said the two were shot at by an unknown person.

The 14-year-old gunshot victim was taken to hospital and was said to be in critical, but stable condition.

KPD detectives don’t know a motive and are asking for information from the public.

Anyone who has information is asked to call the non-emergency number at 509-628-0333 and reference case number 22-072696. Anonymous tips can also be provided online at www.kpdtips.com
