The driver of an 80,000-pound truck was for arrested for DUI after multiple people reported them driving erratically between Lewis and Thurston Counties.
It just took a while for the Toopers to find them.
Washington State Patrol troopers from Olympia found the semi around milepost 88 on the northbound lanes of I-5 Wednesday evening.
Washington State Patrol Arrests Eratic Semi Driver for DUI After Many Witness Calls
Once troopers finally found the truck and made him pull over, they had multiple troopers ready to assist on scene.
As many as 5 Washington State Patrol troopers are visible working the scene in photos released with the post. One can be seen interviewing the driver at the back of the truck, with two others working the passenger side with the door open.
One of those troopers is looking directly inside the cab, another is positioned behind the truck near a patrol vehicle, and a fifth trooper is sitting in a patrol car.
That is a pretty big law enforcement presence for a single traffic stop, but it shows the seriousness of the situation with an erratic truck on the highway.
The driver was placed under arrest for DUI, but when troopers first attempted to make that arrest, the driver resisted, and a resisting arrest charge was added on top of the DUI.

The Part That Should Alarm Every Driver
This semi was reported multiple times across two counties before it was stopped. That means this vehicle was operated by an impaired driver a long distance on a busy interstate while other drivers called for help and hoped for the best.
That situation is one of the most dangerous things a driver can encounter on any highway. The mass and momentum of a fully loaded semi makes even a minor driving error possibly catastrophic or deadly for anyone nearby.
Witnesses kept calling, troopers kept looking, and luckily the outcome ended with an arrest instead of a tragedy.
