Kittitas County Sheriff Deputies Rescue Hunters

Posted on by admin

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.– The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office says their deputies helped rescue two hunters Tuesday morning.

According to KCSO, a hunter called 911 around 9am Tuesday morning to say he’d lost control of his truck. They say that truck fell around 400 feet down an embankment.

According to the sheriff’s office, the hunter “was ejected near the top of the steep slope and though injured, could walk.” They say another person in his car was also injured and thrown from the car.

The sheriff’s office says two of their deputies arrived on scene and were able to climb down to the two men. They say one of them could walk, but they other couldn’t because of his injuries. They say the deputies were worried the man who couldn’t walk might catch hypothermia.

They say multiple other agencies responded to help get the men to safety, and they were able to get them out of the embankment and to the hospital.

The sheriff’s office says, “This was a challenging operation in remote and difficult conditions, with no time to lose. The professionalism and inter-agency cooperation of everyone involved was critical to saving at least one life today. Thank you to all the personnel and agencies involved. Our community was once again made safer because of you.”
