KENNEWICK, Wash. — When police officers noticed a suspicious individual walking on the Kennewick High School campus grounds, they knew something was fishy. This was confirmed when he ran from confrontation.
According to officers from the Kennewick Police Department, a patrol officer was in the area of the school on the 500-block of W 6th Ave at 12:04 a.m. on October 17, 2022. They noticed someone walking near the high school and decided to approach the man.
When the patrol officer tried to make contact with this individual, he refused to comply and ran away. The KPD cop chased after the man, and after a brief pursuit, he brought the suspect into custody without any further incident.

They looked into the suspect and confirmed that he was wanted for eight separate prior charges. He was booked into the Benton County Jail for the following charges:
- Second-degree trespassing
- Second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm
- Second-degree possession of a stolen firearm
- Second-degree false reporting
- Possession of a firearm on a school property
- Concealed weapon without a permit
- Obstruction of a public servant
- Resisting arrest
This investigation hasn’t and will not impact school operations on Monday, October 17.
