Kennewick gunshot victim died at hospital, homicide investigation launched

UPDATE at 9:40 a.m. on Sept. 22: Kennewick police officials announced that the adult male victim who suffered a gunshot wound in their city on Wednesday night has died from his injuries.

As announced by an official statement from the Kennewick Police Department, the victim, whose identity has not been made public at this stage of their investigation, passed away at the hospital.

There is an active investigation underway with the KPD Criminal Investigations Division searching for details about the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting and any suspects related to the crime.

As a result, this has officially been upgraded to a homicide investigation. KPD officials say that more information will be made public once the late man’s family members are contacted and notified about his status.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Kennewick Police are investigating a shooting incident that sent one person to the hospital.  

Officers responded to a report of an unconscious person at a home in the 3700 block of West 4th Avenue overnight on Wednesday, September 21.  

As KPD and Kennewick Fire Department medics arrived, they found that the person had a gunshot wound.  

The victim was taken to a local hospital for their injuries.  

Detectives with the Kennewick Police Department Criminal Investigations Division remained on scene into Thursday morning as they investigated the incident.
