“K” is for Kindness 5K to spread Autism awareness and inclusion planned for Sept. 14

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-The “K” is for Kindness 5K and 1 mile walk to spread autism awareness and inclusion in set for Columbia Point on Saturday, Sept. 14.

All proceeds from the run will benefit Spectrum Studios, a nonprofit in Kennewick that works to create or find jobs for young adults on the autism spectrum in the community.

Registration and packet pickup will start at 9 a.m. at Columbia Point Marina Park in Richland at 660 Columbia Point Drive. Registration for the 5K or 1 mile walk is $25, children nine and under are free.

According to Spectrum Studios, Drew Garpu, who competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics will lead a pre-race stretch at 9:45 before the “K” is for Kindness 5K and 1 mile Dash starts at 10 a.m.

Everyone that crosses the finish line will receive a medal and both pre and post-race photo opportunities with the likes of Batman, Spiderman and Santa Claus will be available.
