The City of Richland is advising drivers of a change to the Horn Rapids Road closure and detour associated with the North Horn Rapids Sewer Extension Project.

Horn Rapids Road Between Stevens Drive and Framatome Will Be Closed

Beginning mid-morning Monday, August 10, the contractor will shift the current traffic routing on Horn Rapids Road. The mid-morning transition will allow Framatome employees arriving for the morning shift to use the existing route. Employees leaving later that day will need to use the new route via Kingsgate Way, which will also be the access route beginning Tuesday morning.

The Closure Will Be in Place Through Mid-October

As crews install a new sewer system, motorists will be detoured using Kingsgate Way, Battelle Boulevard, and Stevens Drive. According to the City of Richland:

  • Horn Rapids Road between Kingsgate Way and the Framatome main entrance will reopen to traffic.

  • Horn Rapids Road between the Framatome main entrance and Stevens Drive will close.

  • Access to Framatome will be available only from the west via Kingsgate Way.

  • Battelle Boulevard will serve as the designated detour route.

Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution around construction crews and equipment.
