Homestead Fruit Stand’s Peach Milkshake Is Worth The Stop

Last week the smoke was so bad as I was driving home on 97a, I decided I needed something special and there’s a place that I stop at just across the highway from where I live called the Homestead Fruit Stand. 

Family owned and operated for decades now, the Homestead fruit stand usually opens on Memorial Day weekend and closes after Labor Day weekend. 

For me, the best thing about the Homestead Fruit stand is the folks that run it and their desire to make sure that all the produce and other products that they have for sale are good and fresh.

On a weekly basis, I’ll buy some peaches and some sweet Quincy corn for my girl fiend. Also, they’re kind enough to pack some ice cream for me in a small container (my favorite is wild huckleberry) that I can take home and put in the freezer for later. 

So, what was that, “something special”? 

One of the special things that they do is milkshakes. Specifically, a Peach milkshake. It’s not the cheapest thing you’ll find there, but it is truly awesome. It’s made with locally grown fresh Peaches, Ice cream, and a shot glass full of some kind of “peach nectar”. (I’m not sure what its official title is.) 

Then they put it in a blender, buzz it up, and you have a peach milkshake that is so fresh and thick; you’ll find it difficult to suck it up a straw. 

I would call the peach milkshake from the Homestead fruit stand a guilty pleasure. Except honestly, I don’t feel guilty about it at all.
