QUINCY, Wash. — Grant County authorities rushed to the scene of a head-on collision between a commercial truck and an SUV on Wednesday night, where a 33-year-old Spokane man was pronounced dead.
According to a social media alert from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, ambulences, medics, firefighters and deputies from across the region were called to the intersection of Rd 5 NW & Rd T NW (White Trail Rd) at 8:40 p.m. on November 9, 2022 for reports of a crash.
A Toyota 4Runner being driven by Justin Evans of Spokane headed eastbound on Rd 5 NW while a commercial truck being driven by a 45-year-old man from the Spokane Valley was traveling westbound on Rd 5 NW.
Deputies learned that the 4Runner crossed the centerline on the roadway as the two vehicles met. They collided head-on, causing immeasurable damage to the Toyota and its driver. Evans did not survive the accident and his remains were turned over to the Grant County Coroner’s Office.
At this stage of their investigation, Grant County autorities do not know why Evans crossed over the centerline. However, they do not have any reason to believe that the commercial truck driver was at fault in this deadly accident.
This accident closed the roadway for an undisclosed amount of time on Wednesday night, forcing commuters to detour through a separate roadway in Grant County.
This is a developing story. An update and/or follow-up may be issued if new details are announced.
