ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A former employee of ACX, a feed and forage business, was arrested and charged with arson after a destructive fire Friday.

Kittitas County detectives served a search warrant on an apartment in Ellensburg Friday night.

Lyle “Chance” Morgan, 24, of Ellensburg was arrested there. Morgan has since been charged with first degree arson in connection to the case.

The fire destroyed buildings and property at ACX and the Ellensburg Racquet and Recreation Club on Vantage Highway.

The fire was spotted just after midnight on December 2.

The fire caused around $7 million in damages, according to law enforcement. Fire crews said some of the areas of the building are still burning and have been since the initial fire started Friday.

Several law enforcement and firefighting crews helped at the scene.

Yakima Fire Department, Yakima Training Center Fire Department, Kittitas County Fire District 7, and Moses Lake Fire Department all responded.

The fire is still under investigation by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Marshal’s Office, ATF and KVFR Fire Investigators. The extent of what Morgan is accused of in connection to the fire has not been released.
