Fires Marching Toward Mattawa in Grant County

On the heels of the fire that burned up to the edge of of the Sun Lakes Resort and Campground, now more evacuations for a fire churning toward Mattawa from the southwest.

   Shortly After 6:30 PM Level 2 Warnings Issued for Mattawa Area

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 2, get ready evacuation warning for Rd U SW and Rd 24.7 SW, which are less than 2 miles southwest of Mattawa.

The fire is burning between the Columbia River and this zone.  Level 2 means prepare emergency kits and necessary personal possessions and be ready to leave at any moment.

Officials also say if you have medical issues, or difficulty moving, it would be a good idea to leave now as a precaution.  More updates are expected soon.
