ELTOPIA, Wash. — Deputies knew that the driver of a grey sedan was seriously impaired when they swerved across the road in front of them on Thursday night, but they didn’t know just how drunk this person was until he was in custody.
According to a social media post from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were posted near the intersection of Fir Rd near Eltopia West Rd around 10:15 p.m. PST on October 27, 2022.
That’s when a 23-year-old driver failed to negotiate the curve on a turn and briefly lost control of his vehicle. Franklin County deputies immediately prompted the driver to stop, but he refused to stop and decided to try eluding the authorities.

Instead of drawing them away, he allegedly parked the car in front of his home. That’s when law enforcement caught up with him and apprehended him for reckless driving and eluding them.
When tested with a breathalyzer, the subject blew nearly double the legal limit for blood alcohol content (BAC) in Washington state law. However, despite his evasive maneuvers and inebriated state, no one was injured in the brief chase.
He faces charges of attempting to elude and driving under the influence.
