YAKIMA, Wash. — The Downtown Association of Yakima is celebrating dozens of local shops, restaurants, wineries and breweries with a fun-filled event on the upcoming Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate the small local shops in your community after stocking up on gifts at big box stores during Black Friday and before heading to the online stores for Cyber Monday.
“It’s a big sales day in itself, but it’s also a day about people discovering and becoming new customers,” DAY executive director Andrew Holt said.
Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, community members can visit the DAY office, Cashmere Valley Bank or Wheatland Bank to pick up a “passport, a map showing the 37 participating businesses and a complimentary shopping tote.
Anyone who visits at least five businesses, gets them to stamp their passport and purchases at least one item from one of the businesses will get raffle entry to win one of six gift baskets valued at $250 to $300 each, full of items from participating businesses.
People who go to more businesses and make more purchases can get additional entries. For example, someone who goes to 20 businesses and makes at least four purchases could get four entries into the raffle.
To enter the raffle, participants just need to drop off their passport at the last business they visit, at the DAY office or one of the two banks serving as check-in locations. The drawing for the gift baskets will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29 during a livestream on Facebook.
Each business also has its own sales, freebies or promotions available. Those deals are identified in DAY’s online map of participating businesses and are being posted one-by-one on social media.
