There’s a mystery brewing in Richland, and we are going to solve it in this article.
Calling All Richland Residents: What Does UGT Mean at Swift & Stevens?
I saw a posting in the Richland, Washington, Facebook group, and someone was asking the question of what the UGT sign means at the corner of Swift and Stevens.

You’ve Probably Driven Past This Richland Sign—But Do You Know What It Means?
It got me thinking about the little signs all over the Tri-Cities and the Columbia Basin, and sometimes, a lot of us don’t know what these signs mean.
At first glance, if I saw UGT, I first thought of the Union Gospel Mission, but that would be wrong.

So what I did discover is that those little UGT signs are pointing the way to the Urban Greenbelt Trail.
The best part of living in the Tri-Cities is discovering all the little trails that are around our town that you might not know about.
The Urban Greenbelt Trail is a newer trail that is worth exploring here in Richland.
According to Hike Tri-Cities.com:
The Urban Greenbelt Trail is a 3-mile paved loop that winds through downtown Richland and along the Columbia River, featuring hidden natural areas that many locals have yet to discover.
There is no official trailhead for this route. You can pick it up at any point along the path. One suggestion would be at the lower parking lot for Richland High School at Fran Rish Stadium.
Another potential point is at the Richland Community Center and third idea is at the north end of Howard Amon Park near the boat launch.
We solved the mystery, so if you see those UGT signs in Richland, you now know exactly what those signs mean.
