ORIGINAL COVERAGE

The Pasco Police Department is investigating a report of a man who offered candy to a Captain Gray Elementary School student on Wednesday, according to the Pasco School District.

PSD says the student made the report 1:40 p.m., saying they were approached by a middle-aged man with facial hair near Court Street and Ninth Avenue. The man was reportedly wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and gray pants.

The student says the man got out of a white work van with no windows and offered them candy. The student then ran back to the school to report the incident.

PSD says the student is safe and PPD is investigating.

PSD also urges parents to remind their children to not approach or get into the vehicle of an unknown person when walking or waiting after school. Students should run and find a district staff member to help them if they encounter a suspicious person.
