Celebrating Art And Community In 2026

Long before Austin, TX decided to “keep it weird” and Portland OR. had naked bicyclists, the Fremont Arts District was going strong. The Fremont Solstice Parade Is this Saturday with the Fremont Fair immediately following. 

According to fremontfair.com,
‘The 35th Annual Fremont Solstice Parade, produced by the Fremont Arts Council, blasts off on Saturday June 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. The 2026 Fremont Solstice Parade kicks off at 3rd and Leary Way, continues along 36th Street, then turns right on N 35th St, and finishing up near the Fremont Rocket and Seattle Art Cars display inside the Fremont Fair’ 

The Fremont Fair is legendary in the Pacific Northwest, especially among the “artsy folk” who make the pilgrimage to The Fremont District every year to participate. Yes, there is a lot of talk about the naked cyclists that are part of the parade, but that’s a tiny percentage of what you get to see, do, and experience at the Fremont Solstice Parade and fair. 

My focus is always on music, but there’s also a tremendous amount of food, arts, and crafts.  

The music schedule starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

If you decide to go to the parade, don’t forget to get there early for the best spot and if you’re a cyclist, don’t forget to wear sunscreen (everywhere). 

Events like the Fremont Solstice Parade and the Fremont Fair have been happening in Europe for hundreds of years so European visitors might think that this is little Pasay, but for those of us who live here in the Pacific Northwest, we see it as a strong tradition rooted in artistic expression and individuality. 

I look at it as a nice break from World Cup soccer.
