RICHLAND, Wash. — A body-positivity fashion show, representing strength, love and embracing everyone’s identities and styles raised thousands of dollars for the Tri-Cities Cancer Foundation.

The event organizer, Charelle Latrice Woods, said she has family, friends and co-workers who have experienced a battle with cancer. She said the community needs more resources for cancer research.

‘Loving The Skin I’m In, Mind Body and Soul,’ the first annual fashion show kicked off Sept. 11th, 2022. Exactly one month later, the Lovin’ Me 911 committee presented the Tri-Cities Cancer Foundation a $3,000 check.

Numerous organizations reached out to help in the fundraising, venue, catering and more.

“I’m so blessed just with the outpour of all these different businesses wanting to help out for the cause,” Woods said in an interview last month.

With Woods spearheading the event, more than thirty-five community members strutted the runway. More than one hundred people cheering them on in the audience.

“Women and men celebrating themselves in their clothes, and being unapologetic and being free,” said Woods as she described her vision.
