Body Found in Another Burned Out Car Northwest of Wapato

Posted on by admin

This is the third time a body has been found in a burned out car in our region this year.

Body found inside a burned car near Wapato.

Late Tuesday evening, Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to an orchard located in the 2500 block of Riggs Road in the county, a location about 10 miles northwest of Wapato, and well away from Highway 97 and Interstate 82.

Upon arrival, they found a car on fire, and once it was extinguished, they found a body inside. Deputies were not able to obtain any sort of ID, or at least if they did, information has not been released.

Investigators are working the scene, the body has been sent to the coroner’s office to determine the cause of death and the ID and gender of the victim.

This is the third such case of this type this year in our region.  Back in June Grant County Deputies were called to a location near Moses Lake, and found a male victim in a burned-out car.

Then on August 16th, Deputies responded to a location near Wapato about a car on fire and found a partially burned male victim inside. That incident is also being treated as a criminal homicide investigation.
