WASHINGTON, D.C.-In the first two years of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Washington State has received $5.3 billion for projects across the state.
President Biden signed the bill into law on Nov. 15, 2021 and since then, 1,200 projects in Washington have received funding or grants to improve infrastructure, including airports, railways, ports and highways.
The White House released a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law fact sheet to show where money is being spent and an interactive map of projects receiving funding is available.
“The infrastructure law continues to give Washington’s growing economy a big boost,” said Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, who authored many of the provisions in the law.
According to a press release from Sen. Cantwell’s Office, projects across the state have received funding, from upgrades at Spokane International Airport to the Port of Tacoma and several road, bridge, transit and climate projects in between.
“57 of our state’s airports received money to upgrade their service,” Sen. Cantwell said. “1,200 projects later, we have kickstarted much-needed improvements to our roads, bridges, and transit lines to help move Washington’s products and people faster and more safely.”
