Ben Franklin Transit ends fare study, will lower ticket prices July 1

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – The Ben Franklin Transit announced changes coming to its fare structure on July 1 following a study.

Notable changes coming includes lowered fare prices, the addition of mobile passes and a new yearly pass option.

New pricing includes:

Single Fare price lowering to $1 from $1.50Reduced Single Fare price lowering to $.50 from $.75.Day Pass becoming mobile only and lowering to $3 from $4.10 Ride Ticket Books being set at $8 instead of ranging from $6 to $25.Adult Monthly Passes being reduced to $10 from $25.New mobile-only Yearly Pass added for $120.

Specialty pass modifications like youth, senior, veterans, CBC and WSU will not see changes. Transfers are also being discontinued.

Pricing changes will not come to Dial-A-Ride. DAR was originally proposed to have prices increase, however BFT says early feedback shut down the proposal.
