On August 5, the LEAD Task Force finished a long narcotics investigation, searched a Wapato residence, and found cocaine, marijuana, and two firearms.
The weapons were seized, and a suspect is now sitting in the Yakima County Jail awaiting court.
It took three months of investigative work to get to this moment.
Search Warrant Turned Up Evidence in the Photo
When LEAD Task Force investigators searched the Wapato residence, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Inside the residence, investigators found multiple types of unlawfully possessed controlled substances, including cocaine and marijuana.
The Task Force confirmed these substances were allegedly being distributed in the community. Two firearms were also recovered at the scene.
The suspect was booked into the Yakima County Jail on various narcotics-related charges.
The LEAD Task Force Has This Important Job
The LEAD Task Force is not a single agency operation, but a collaborative effort bringing together federal, state, and local law enforcement professionals together to disrupt and dismantle criminal activity across the Yakima Valley and Columbia Basin. It takes a lot of coordination to run a three-month investigation across multiple jurisdictions.
This case had key contributions from the Washington State Patrol, the Grandview Police Department, and the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Pro-Act Team alongside the broader LEAD Task Force partnership.
