KENNEWICK, Wash. — Through a collaborative effort between regional law enforcement agencies, 28 of the most frequent and infamous offenders in the Tri-Cities area have been arrested and charged with crimes.

According to an announcement made by the Kennewick Police Department, they teamed up with the Richland Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office to identify the most serious and consistent offenders of their jurisdiction.

Through the weeklong operation, suspects were brought into custody for 55 charges comprised of 28 misdemeanors and 27 felonies. Some of these came from outstanding warrants while others were new offenses that were recently uncovered or unfolded during the course of this operation.

Tri-Cities area law enforcement also recovered three stolen vehicles in the process while making contact with wanted individuals.

“These results are due to the ongoing relationships and dedication of our regional partners to keeping our communities safe,” the Kennewick Police Department stated via social media.

Much of their success can be credited to the work of Tri-Cities area detectives who did the legwork to compile a comprehensive list of “top offenders” within their jurisdiction. One of these individuals was a wanted felon from out-of-state who unsuccessfully fired gunshots at pursuing officers and deputies while fleeing near W Clearwater Ave.

Ultimately, the goal of this operation is to curb some of the unchecked crime that plagued the region over the summer.
