At the end of January UPS announced it’s cutting 12,000 jobs worldwide.
As part of the package delivery company’s plan, more than 100 positions have been eliminated at its Windsor, Washington location. The job cuts are permanent due to a lack of work at the facility. 23 full-time and 95 part-time workers will be out of their jobs on April 2nd.
It’s reported that UPS lost more than $9 billion in revenue year over year in 2023.
Revenue fell more than 9% last year and profit dropped by a third.
The company’s effort to “right-size” global staffing will continue over the next several months. This will reduce the company’s expenses by almost $1billion. All affected employees will receive severance packages and outplacement assistance. UPS employs almost 500,000 people.
