Tree replacement begins at Jefferson Park in Richland

Posted on by admin

RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of Richland is executing its replacement program at Jefferson Park, starting a several week mission to remove five mature trees from the park.

The park was identified as having several aging trees ten years ago. A Renew and Replace model was put in place then, allowing for new trees to establish through strategic planting before removing aging trees.

The five trees have been marked for removal with signage. The removal is essential to create space and resources for newer and younger trees, according to the City.

An Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for April 26 where volunteers can join park personnel to plant up to 25 more trees. The new trees will be placed along the east side of the park along Hunt Street.
