Richland firefighters were able to keep an apartment fire from spreading Friday, January 17.
Crews responded to the fire at the Columbia Park Apartments in the 1600 block of Jadwin Avenue and contained the flames to a bedroom within 20 minutes of their arrival, said Battalion Fire Chief Michael Van Beek with the Richland Fire Department.
Smoke damage, however, left the apartment uninhabitable and the occupants are receiving assistance from the apartment manager, Van Beek added.
Four other apartments were evacuated as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
