Richland author addresses son’s addiction to help others fight opioid epidemic in new book

Posted on by admin

RICHLAND, Wash.-A Richland mother has released a book chronicling her son’s addiction journey amidst the ongoing opioid epidemic in America.

Michele Gerber, PhD, wrote “Witness to Addiction: My Son’s Journey and How Each Person Can Fight America’s Opioid Epidemic” to highlight how addiction can happen to anyone and to let people know about treatment resources and how to respond.

“The book offers a practical, hands-on section of actions everyone can take — parents and grandparents, employers, school personnel, the faith community, policy-makers and elected officials,” said Gerber.

Gerber’s book chronicles the 22-year-long addiction journey she shared with her son that ultimately ended in his death, according to a WestBow Press release on the book.

Readers of Gerber’s book will hopefully come away with “new understandings about addiction, as well as pragmatic actions people can take to fight back against the addiction epidemic and be empowered,” according to WestBow.

Gerber is hosting a book signing at Wisdom Books in Kennewick at 12 p.m. on Satuday, Dec. 9.
