Pasco gets grant for traffic signal project at intersection of Road 76 and Sandifur

Posted on by admin

PASCO, Wash.-The City of Pasco has been awarded a federal grant for a traffic signal project to make the intersection of Road 76 and Sandifur Parkway safer and more efficient.

Pasco is getting $2.1 million in federal funding through the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Improvement Program.

The project includes the installation of a new traffic signal, as well as pedestrian safety upgrades, such as crosswalks, sidewalk extensions and signal timing coordination with Road 68, according to the City of Pasco.

“These improvements will greatly enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians in the area,” said Public Works Director Maria Serra. “The project was identified as a priority in our 2024 update to the Roadway Safety Plan, and we are grateful for the federal support to make this project a reality.”

The $2.1 million grant will fully cover the project costs, according to the city. The design phase of the project will start in 2025 with construction expected to be completed in 2027.
