Miley Cyrus managed to score a country genre Grammy Award before her own father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
On Sunday (Feb. 2), the 2025 Grammy Awards took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif. Prior to the CBS main telecast, the Premiere Ceremony took place, where the majority of awards are given out. During this, it was announced that Beyonce and Miley won the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for their collaboration, “II Most Wanted,” from Cowboy Carter record. This was Miley’s first Grammy nomination in a country category, and she managed to win it!
Billy Ray began his music career back in 1992 and in 1993 he was nominated for his first country Grammy for his first hit, “Achy Breaky Heart,” in the Best Country Vocal Performance (Male), Record of the Year and Best New Artist categories. The following year, he was nominated for Best Country Vocal Collaboration for the single, “Romeo.”
Billy Ray won his first Grammys in 2020 for “Old Town Road,” in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video categories (the song was also nominated for Record of the Year).
